Web Seminar Series for ICMA Member Management Executives

One of ICMA’s initiatives is to bring executive level training to ICMA members, taking its educational offerings to the next level, focusing on management and leadership topics beyond its typical card industry programming. These web seminars can be viewed individually, as a small group or as company-wide training. These online programs are web-based, enabling ICMA members to watch them whenever they want, wherever they want (during the scheduled month). Each program is like watching a leadership seminar right on your computer. The programs blend cutting-edge content and streaming-video to keep you engaged and energized. And each program is personally taught by Mark Murphy, bestselling author and CEO of Leadership IQ. He’s the only leadership expert to ever appear on ABC’s 20/20 and CBS News Sunday Morning, and has a client base that includes companies such as DuPont, Hewlett-Packard, Citigroup and Intel. This four part series will begin in March with the remaining three topic scheduled as listed below. The seminars are free to ICMA members and $95 per person, per seminar for non- members. The seminars are available all year!

You'll learn the five deadly sins of teams, how to prevent them, and how to correct them. You'll learn the best practices for creating world-class teams, how to get everyone on exactly the same page, make faster and better decisions, create high levels of trust, foster meaningful discussions, and clearly define everyone's roles. You'll learn how to make every team (from executive teams to project teams to team-based organizations) a world-class experience. Registration Information Webinars are FREE to ICMA members and $95 per-person, per-seminar to non-members. Each web seminar will be available for a 30 day period, beginning the first weekday of the month in which the seminar is scheduled.

Motivating B Players -
B Players (aka middle performers) are the backbone of every organization. While high and low performers get most of the attention, middle performers typically make-up 70 percent of the workforce, and are critical to your organization's success. You'll learn the best practices for motivating and maximizing middle performers. You'll see how the world's greatest leaders diagnose the four types of B Players, establish expectations for excellence, transform their own managerial outlook, and apply the two dimensions of human motivation to unlock the potential of every middle performer. You'll also learn the specific scripts they use to help B players embrace and achieve A performance.

The 5 Deadly Sins of Hiring
Forty-six percent of all new hires will fail within 18 months. Selecting is one of the hardest skills for leaders to master, and it's why the failure rates for new hires can exceed 50 percent (and cost organizations millions every year). In this program you'll learn how to avoid the hiring sins that plague most leaders. You’ll learn the best practices for hiring the “perfect match,” how to develop your ideal candidate profile, what question you should always ask first, why you should never ask “tell me about yourself,” and much more.

Persuasive Presentations
It's a fact of life that the most persuasive presenters achieve the greatest professional success. From CEOs to new managers, great presenters get their projects approved, their employees are motivated, they're more respected and they climb the career ladder faster. In this program you'll learn the 7 keys to persuasive presentations (and the biggest mistakes made by mediocre presenters). We'll show you how to grab the attention of your audience in 30 seconds, discover your audience's pain (and solve it for them), and deliver a presentation perfectly matched to their communication styles. And we'll tell you why the most common way to begin a presentation is also the worst. You'll also learn how to build a physical connection with your audience, avoid becoming one of the negative stereotypes that destroys presentations, and turn PowerPoint from a painful experience to a captivating and engaging partner. Whether you're a seasoned presenter or just beginning, this program will make your presentations significantly more persuasive (and your career more successful).
